If you are offered CRA Tax Payer Relief, it is very likely that you will think that it is a good idea and want to get involved.? Unfortunately the reality is a little different, and while it would be great if this was an easy thing to get.? Everyone would like to be able to pay less tax and if the authorities were the people making the offer. It is not the case that it is not possible to get CRA Tax Payer Relief, but it is not as easy as the CRA want people to believe.

There are times when you will be able to get CRA Tax Payer Relief, but it is not going to be easy to prove that you are entitled to it. Most of the time it will be because there has been a mistake on the part of the CRA and they are not going to want to admit that. It is due to extraordinary circumstances that the relief is normally granted and this tends to be penalties and interest stopped or reduced. It is not an avenue that is open to everyone, but there are people who will qualify. It is important that there is plenty of evidence provided to show the authority why there should be CRA Tax Payer Relief. A professional company would now the sort of evidence that would be required and explain that the bill itself will not be reduced.

The extraordinary circumstances could be things such as natural disasters such as a fire or flood and there were no records left to allow a return to be sent in on time. Another reason would be if there had been a mistake made by the CRA. If it was sent on time but then either lost or not dealt with by the CRA until past the due date, then that would be a valid reason to request that the late filing penalty would be removed. In order to do this the forms would have had to be sent recorded unless the paperwork was stamped by the department and that showed that it had arrived on time.

CRA Tax Payer Relief could be applied if it was possible to prove that there was financial hardship. Again this would have to be proved and not just claimed, but if the claimant were to hire a professional, they would be able to help them set out a budget that would be accepted by the CRA. A medical problem could also lead to CRA Tax Payer Relief, as could the loss of an immediate relative when it comes to late filing of the return and the penalty that has arisen from it.

It will always be best to use a professional when it comes to making the claim as they will be in a better position to make sure that all bases have been covered and you have given yourself the best possible chance of being successful.
